The Journey to West Timor!!!

So we left Hat Yai by bus and drive all the way through Malaysia from top to bottom! Luckily the bus we had booked was very comfortable (few cockroaches but you cant escape them in South East Asia...Ive learnt the hard way!)
We crossed the border to Singapore (OH MY GOD -Singapore is soooo clean and organised its amazing i cant wait to come back for the three days (universal studios!!)
Then we got a train to Singapore airport (even the budget terminal is amazing) and boarded a flight to
Jakarta Indonesia with Tiger Airways.Brand spanking new air plane it was very good!
We had to wait overnight at Jakarta airport...luckily there was a seating area with a Indomart (Indonesian equivalent of 7-11) otherwise that wait could have been horrific lol!
Then we boarded the Batavia flight to Kupang,West Timor! The plane was pretty old! and we had an engineer on the plane at one point flapping around! Doesn't make you feel the safest especially when you know that Batavia are not allowed to fly into Europe because they dont meet the standards!Charlie is already asleep before take off lol ....thanks bf!thanks a bunch! The take off is HORRIBLE...the engine is making a sound iv never heard before and Ive flown a lot!We swerve to the right...then the left....then the right...then the left and eventually turn right...i can see sky one side and ground the other! And i think I'm going to die on a crappy plane in Indonesia....GREAT! Landing was pretty much the same story! But we got to Timor safe and sound in the end!!! And it looks pretty cool!

Hat Jai-Thailand

We were both very excited to catch up with our long lost friend Gerry and his lovely partner Ooy! We had been to see them before in Hat Yai so we knew what to expect from the place. Its an interesting place with a huge mix of Thai,Malaysian and Chinese people and is a big business centre....for Gerry i think its just a nice place to get away from all the other ex pats.
Gerry very kindly put us up for the whole time we were there and fed and watered us....thanks very much Gerald! We took Ooy to the movies to see John Carter...don't think she was that impressed with the movie but she loved the popcorn lol! In a Thai cinema before the feature starts you have to stand for the national anthem and the kings portrait on the screen....very strange! The ongoing joke was that Gerry kept asking Ooy if she liked the movie and Ooy kept replying in her Thairish accent (Thai and Irish) REALLLY!!!very funny if you were there!
We were also pleased to be there for Ooys birthday....so we went out for a lovely meal and then to the post laser disc for some live music and so Ooy could have vodka splite (vodka sprite lol! ) It was lovely to see her have such a great time!

We had a lovely time....cant wait to see you two again!!

Koh Lanta-Thailand

Koh Lanta is another Island in the south of Thailand (like Phi Phi but less touristic) However its definitely not undiscovered. There are plenty of bars and hotels suitable for backpackers up to package whores (according to Moonface)! We got two car ferries across from Krabi and dropped a couple of other Westerners off at their hotel...ill admit when i saw their accommodation i was slightly concerned lol! But our hotel right on the beach was beautiful and run by a nice family!
We decided to walk into town (i needed to buy the obligatory postcard and magnet lol) which was about 6 miles in 33 plus degrees! It wasn't particularly enjoyable lol (unless you moonface). Sometimes i hate loving my boyfriend because i think he's pretty much gone in the head lol! The town was nice with a beautiful coastline! The rest of the two days were spent relaxing round the swimming pool and topping up the tan! I like Koh Lanta a lot it definitely slows down the pulse rate!

Mothers Day!

God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that mother to me.

Happy Mother's Day Mum
Sorry I cant be there....I will treat you twice as much next year!!
Love and miss you lots
Cari

Krabi-Thailand!

As part of our tour package we were supposed to get a pick up and get taken to our hotel....this did not happen and the lady at the tour company denied all knowledge of this promise so it cost us 7GBP to get to our hotel (bare in mind ourdaily budget is 35GBP). We were not best pleased!
When we get there we have a horrible bungalow in Lizard/Insect hell!!!Not much happens (at all) where were are staying so we spent most of the time watching Lotus Macau (English films!!!).

I did have some funny times though

I learnt never ask your boyfriend to get you some sanitary towels....he will buy you some super plus incontinence pads but he'll do it with a smile on his face lol!

Me to Charlie .... 'Yes Charlie I do need to leave the door open when I use the toilet facilities!I need an escape route in case of Lizard attack!'

Koh PiPi-Thailand!

We had a lovely Boat journey...very relaxing soaking up the sun (too much it turns out!) and letting our legs dangle over the side of the boat...life doesnt get much better! The last ten minutes of the journey had the most amazing scenery!

It's a shame I got burnt and pretty much had to become nocturnal for the rest of the three days!
We found a great reggae bar which had a Thai Boxing ring in the middle. You got a free bucket of rum and coke if you got in and had a fight with someone....gave that one a miss lol! The real fights though were awesome!

PiPi is stunning to look at! However its a shame its been taken over by tourists! An example of this to end on would be the giant penis in the sand erected (excuse the phrase) on the beach! Still it didnt ruin the experience.I've always wanted to go to PiPi (yes since i saw The Beach" and it really is that beautiful!

Chang Mai Continued!-Thailand!

So after the greatness of my fishing trip I decided to do a Thai cooking course. It was really fun!We went to a market and our teacher explained each of the important thai ingredients, what you can make with them as well as how to cook them and use them properly!

Then we went back to the traditional teak house and started cooking the dishes we had chosen.I decided to make
  • Pad Thai with chicken
  • Penang curry paste
  • Penang curry
  • Sweet and sour vegetable
  • Sweet bananna and ice cream

I saved some curry and sweet and sour eg for Charlie and he said it was very nice!Cant wait to cook it for everyone when I get back!!

Chang Mai-Thailand!

Train from Ayutthaya took 16 hours (overnight)! At first i wasn't too impressed with my overnight transport/accommodation as it looked like another cockroach mobile! However it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable and i slept like a baby for roughly 10 hours lol...oops!

When we arrived at our hotel....B.M.P (no funny comments please!lol) and id sorted out my hair(see below the effects of humitidy on my locks!)we went for a walk to book the tours we wanted to do. I chose Fishing and Charlie chose Mai Thai boxing!

Chang Mai is a tourist paradise...especially ones who like outdoor activities! You can literally do anything! And if you don't then there are massage courses...cooking courses....tattoo courses everything! It's very laid back and you don't get hassled to buys things or hassled for a tuk tuk! The weather is a lot warmer than we were anticipating in the north of Thailand (37 degrees). So i booked my fishing trip (Thanks mum and dad your money paid for that!) and Charlie sorted his Mai Thai out and we were good to go!

I was picked up at seven thirty and driven to the lake where i was met by Mr Chang my Thai fishing guide. He was really cool and explained everything to me...like casting and how to apply the brakes on the lead when you catch something! His special bate worked a treat (banana and bread...mixed with some smaller mushed up fish!) My line hadnt even been out 5 mins before it caught something. It took me 20 mins to get the first monster in...30kg and he was making my line bend in two lol! Great fun!

I was a big fan of holding the fish but I really wanted to get a picture for my Nan as she used to go fishing with my Grandad and doesn't get the chance now.Nan I'm gonna take you fishing when I get back!
The other 11 fish I caught were Giant Mekong Catfish...all of various sizes...thank god coz i dont think i could have lasted five hours if i had to pull more monsters out lol! Catfish are even more disgusting to hold and they make farting noises when you hold them....gross lol!
The fishing trip was so awesome....it so exciting when you realise you've got something on the other end of your line and apparently I was his first solo female customer which is kinda cool!

Ayutthaya-Thailand

Our train from Bangkok was easy enough! A little bit hot to say the least. The hostel we were staying at has just been refurbished due to the flooding. It was a really great place to meet fellow travellers and also plenty of locals too. Samsee the lady that worked at the hostel was extremely friendly...if not a little bit of an alcoholic lol but she was good fun and treated us all like family.

Ayutthaya is UNESCO world heritage site and was the old capital of Thailand. It boasts numerous beautiful ruins...(one was right next to our hostel!).Some of the temples date back to the year 1350!
We decided to hire bikes and cycled round the town stopping at all the various temples and ruins. It was really hot but the bright sun made everything look even more impressive. It seemed mad to think how long these buildings have been standing. I found it more impressive than Angkor Watt...opps sorry!

While we were cycling round we found a huge group of elephants. My intial excitement quickly wore off as I noticed they were being ridden (people dont ride elephants in an environment like this...they are treated badly...and they are not there for your amusement they are wild animals...please respect them!) and were being made to dance to music, sometimes while standing on their hind legs and twirling hula hoops...disgusting! I quickly made my exit!

Bangkok-Thailand!

So glad to be in Thailand! The air asia flight was brilliant as usual! We got the sky train from the airport which now has an extended line since the last time we were here. Its cheap in comparison the the underground in London and fast. Then a taxi ride for the rest of the 6km to the Khao San Road!(less than 2GBP). We found a cheap room and decided to explore.

For anyone who hasnt been to Bangkok and frequented the Khao San Road it is basically one road in central Bangkok where you can literally buy anything you could ever need to spend money on....and some things you really dont need to spend money on too!

Our two days here consisted of souvenir buying (including a rolex for my father lol and an i love clunge bracelet for my little brother) and drinking! Me and Moonface decided to have a bet....this involved him getting fake dreadlocks haha...unfortunately it was too expensive for a laugh!DAMN!

Either way you cant hate Bangkok.....it rules!
